2022 Finn x Doll Lambs

3/11/22 Hermione X Hiram (lamb is 3/4 Finn + 1/4 Babydoll)

Hermione surprised us by being the first to lamb with a little white (mostly) ram we named Jackson. Usually singletons are the ones incubated longer than multiples. Jackson has been wethered.

3/11/22 Becka X Hein (lambs 5/8 Finn + 3/8 Babydoll)

Becka quite characteristically jumped the line. Both observation and ultrasound measurements indicated she would lamb right AFTER the first flush of ewes. Ha! Son, Jacob, is white, and daughter, Jacquelyn, is deep brown with HST markings (white on head, socks & tail).

3/11/22 Emlyn X Hiram (lambs 5/8 Finn + 3/8 Babydoll)

Emlyn came through with 2 boys almost exactly the same weight, 8 pounds. Jason is black and Jasper is brown and both have HST markings. Jasper has been wethered.

3/14/22 Brea X Hein (lambs 5/8 Finn & 3/8 Babydoll)

Brea did beautifully – bearing 2 lovely daughters. Unfortunately, daughter #3 presented head back and one leg back and was stillborn. Her first, Jaslyn, weighed twice as much as little black/HST Jasmine. Jasmine was given supplemental formula and has transitioned to almost total bottle baby.

3/15/22 Daphne X Hiram (lambs 3/4 Finn & 1/4 Babydoll)

Daphne lambed ahead of her triplet sisters with 3 gorgeous brown baby girls. Two have slight white frosting on their foreheads and the 3rd is solid brown. All 3 girls are reserved.

3/17/22 Daria X Hiram (3/4 Finn & 1/4 Babydoll)

Daria finally delivered 7 days after her due date. As feared she had way too many babies (5) but 2 very nice ones survived birth. As tribute to St. Paddy’s Day we named the black boy Jameson. His brown sister is named Jamie. Jameson has been sold but Jamie, with her beautiful fleece, is still available.

3/19/22 Francesca X Hiram (lamb is 3/4 Finn & 1/4 Babydoll)

Francesca is proving to be a very attentive mother this year. Jiminy weighed 7# 14oz at birth.

3/20/22 Fannie Mae X Hein (lambs are 3/4 Finn & 1/4 Babydoll)

Fannie Mae seems to have figured out that if she lambs early the babies are smaller and are easier to deliver. She delivered triplets this year: black ram and 2 white ewes all weighing between 5 and 6 pounds. Joshua has been sold but the 2 girls are still available.

3/23/22 Elly Mae X Hein (lambs are 82% Finn and 18% Babydoll)

Although she had single lambs the last two years, she made up for lost opportunities with the delivery of 4 lambs early on the 23rd – 2 boys and 2 girls – mostly white but Jude has some fawn coloration perhaps? We are supplementing these young ones and enjoying their personality differences.

3/25/22 Flossie x Hiram (lambs are 69% Finn and 31% Babydoll)

Flossie surprised us with lambs ahead of “schedule”…diminutive versions of herself. They are considered piebald because they have white markings on body besides on their heads, socks, and tails.

3/26/22 Dazzle x Hein (lambs are 75% Finn and 25% Babydoll)

After a LOOONG time of us wincing as she moved her large body, Dazzle finally delivered early on the 26th. I lost my bet – I thought she was going to break her record and go for 6, but she settled for 5 – and all are alive and thriving with help from us bottle nurses. 27 plus pounds of babies!!!

3/27/22 Fortuosity x Hein (lamb is 69% Finn and 31% Babydoll)

Tuoey birthed her a BIG baby and is keeping her under close wraps. Jolene has more spots than a true HST markings so I figure she is considered piebald.

8/1/22 Heliana x Hein

Surprise! Hein was in with the ewe lambs around shearing day and surprised us with some late summer lambs. Heliana’s first boy was either stillborn or died shortly after birth. Jessie was TINY at 3#8oz and flourished anyway with the help of his bottle nurses. He is wethered.

8/8/22 Harriet (a.k.a. Princess) x Hein

Jewel was a little doll but ended up one of the inevitable firsts… a victim of overeatting disorder (and stomach ulcer). So sad!

8/12/22 Deone x Hein (lambs are 63% Finn / 37% Babydoll)

Deone took her sweet time but the result was these two sweeties, Janessa (BRN) & Janelle (BLK). These girls will be building my flock.
