About

Prairie Plum Farm is a tiny plot of 14.5 acres of rolling terrain in the Bluff Country of southeastern Minnesota.  My mission for this property is to:

nurture the land, protect the watershed, and work with nature to produce wholesome food and a regenerative experience for inhabitants and visitors.

Although the acreage is small and my track record short, my hope and plan is for it to produce enough revenue to balance farm expenses and even generate surplus so that I can become an employer of local talent.   I would love to mentor members of the next generations in sustainable farming methods and increased food self-sufficiency.

The property was purchased in 2011 from an Amish couple who left a wonderful legacy of buildings, orchard, and pastures.  I have made serious modifications to the house and have embarked on a course of integrating livestock and plants to minimize both expenses and waste, not unlike the practices of the former owners.

    • I may be able to help you, but it depends on whether you are interested in purebred Babydolls or the Finn x Doll crosses.

I am not taking any more Babydoll ewe lamb reservations at this time, I still have ram lambs available of either color.

I have more options with Finn x Dolls. I will have a couple of adult ewes available after weaning, as well as lambs of both genders in a variety of percentages of each breed and colors.

Let me know what you are looking for and how I can help.

  1. Hi Sue,
I’m up in Manitoba and I’m trying to find a couple of baby dolls- do you know if any breeders up here? I can’t find one!
    Thanks ahead of time.

    • Hello Arthur/Candice – I’ve sold to folks in northern MN but never Canada. I’d have to check the NABSSAR website listing for breeders there. I wish you luck!
